Dr Namdarian is a consultant urological surgeon who seeks to provide personalised care by utilising cutting edge techniques. He has a special interest in new technology, robotic minimally invasive treatments of prostatic, renal and bladder diseases, as well as the management of congenital disorders in Transition Urology. Ben is a senior lecturer at Macquarie University.
Ben was awarded his urological fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2016 having trained in Melbourne and Sydney. He then undertook the prestigious fellowships in robotics at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Trust in central London, followed by Adolescent/Transition Urology at University College London Hospital.
Ben then continued as an NHS Consultant Robotic and LASER Surgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Trust as a key part of the team that established robotic reconstructive and transplant services at Guy’s Hospital. In this role he pioneered the adoption and dissemination of various techniques in prostate cancer diagnostics and BPH treatments such as local anaesthetic transperineal Prostate biopsy, Urolift and HoLEP.
Ben has published widely across diverse urological disciplines and has written a number of book chapters on robotics and Urological anatomy, most recently for Gray’s Anatomy. His current research interests are in new imaging modalities, robotic surgical training, trans-perineal template biopsy techniques and extending the role of technology in reconstructive surgery.
Ben enjoys singing having been a principle tenor with Victorian Opera and Melbourne Symphony Orchestra as well as cycling in fundraising events. Ben has returned to Sydney recently with his family, including three young daughters.
